The Team UNREEL Story

Where it all BEGAN

A group of mates living the 'kiwi' dream - Hunting Sika in the Kaimanawas, chasing Marlin off Mercury Bay and hydrating at various establishments across New Zealand.... Then a little thing called COVID-19 hits.

'JB' a Security Expert, Private Investigator & Bush Engineer is hired to 'monitor' developments sites through COVID lockdowns - his clients didn't need or want to pay ridiculously expensive prices for what was the current industry standard for CCTV hire - bulky, long-term hire that was expensive and lackluster in response times.

Beers and BRAINSTORMING

A snapchat to his mate 'Normundy' at 3AM in the morning whilst 'patrolling' a jobsite eventuated (once lockdowns ended) in a table full of empty Heinekens and what is now aptly referred to as the bush engineer drawings to invent [PATENT PENDING] the 'STRIPEY' - a trailer based, solar powered, CCTV system that takes 10-minutes and one person to install.

The OG STRIPEY has withstood rigorous road testing, cyclones, floods and to this day provides clients with a fast, effective and affordable solution to CCTV provisions for any industry. Here it is pictured with its first official 'job' assisting event security at the Coroglen, Coromandel for their summer concerts!

Fast forward to TODAY

What started as a few sketches, beers and a 'kiwi dream' has turned into UNREEL HIRE - we have grown to having units in Auckland, Northland, Coromandel and Gisborne with plans to expand.

Along the way we have added the 'traditional' option of a long-term concrete based option [as pictured] for clients who prefer this style.

Team UNREEL have grown to over 25 units with the next goal of 100 and are gaining clients every month - our goal is to ensure we provide the best equipment, fast communication and most importantly fair hire prices.

Almost forgot the FISHING

We better mention the hobby that forged UNREEL HIRE... our love for fishing, spending time with mates and 'kiwi' summers, maybe a cold Heineken as well! Centrally focused around the mighty 885 Extreme 'UNREEL', memories are made, marlin are raised and a 'brand' has been created.
